redragon fizz pro k616 wireless mechanical keyboard

Share in Whatsapp

I have purchased the redragon fizz pro k616 mechanical wireless keyboard, which comes with Red switches. It also has the option of being hot swappable, allowing you to replace them with other 3-pin switches. I am yet to confirm if it is compatible with premium switches like Gateron, as I will check that in a video later.

The Redragon Red switches in this keyboard are decent in terms of smoothness, although not as smooth as Gateron Reds. However, the RGB lighting is quite impressive, with support for per-key RGB customization through the software. While it doesn't have dedicated media keys, you can add them to the keys using the software.

There are a total of three connection options available for this keyboard. I purchased it for around 3300 rupees, and it comes with a one-year warranty.

in the box, you will find:

The manual

A variety of gaming stickers

A 1.5-meter Type C cable made of PVC material, which is L-shaped and provides a premium feel

Key cap puller and switch puller are also included

Four extra switches are included as well.

I purchased it in a grey and white color combination, and it looks good, but I tend to avoid using dark keycaps because the RGB lighting appears slightly dim on them.

In terms of build quality, the keyboard is good and doesn't have any flex. However, it is quite lightweight compared to other keyboards, weighing around 460 grams, while some other keyboards weigh 600+ grams. The reason behind its lightweight design is that it doesn't use metal plates under the keys like other keyboards; instead, it uses plastic.

Personally, I prefer lightweight keyboards as they are more appealing to me and also offer better portability. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.

The Redragon Red switches in this keyboard are decent but not as smooth as, for example, the Jixian Reds, which are 90% smooth. We can say that the Redragon switches in this keyboard are about 70% smooth.

There is no rattling sound in the keys; they are stable and produce a good sound when typing.

For the typing and sound test, there is a bit of friction in the switches, but the keys are stable and the absence of rattling sound enhances the overall typing experience.

However, if you still feel like replacing the switches, it can be easily done using a tool. The PCB supports 3-pin switches, and I believe it is compatible with Otemu and Redragon switches. You can see that Gateron switches have a different pin size compared to Otemu, and Otemu switches have larger pins.

I have tried using Gateron switches, and they worked fine, but please note that trying different switches is at your own risk

In short, all 3-pin switches should fit, but be cautious when dealing with switches that have larger pin sizes as they may potentially cause the pins of a couple of switches to break while installing. Whatever you decide to do, please proceed at your own risk.

Furthermore, the RGB lighting on this keyboard is impressive. It is similar to the Portronics Hydra and Zeb Max Nija keyboards. It offers a total of 21 lighting effects, and you can control the brightness and speed of the effects. There is also an option for per-key RGB lighting, which can be accessed using the "Fn" key plus the backspace key.

The keyboard also has software support, which can be downloaded and installed from the official website. The software provides various options for RGB effects, allowing you to customize the lighting according to your preference. Additionally, you can map keys or add macros to each profile. For example, I have mapped the volume keys to the less frequently used "Alt" and "Ctrl" keys.

The keyboard features additional keys such as Print Screen, Home Page, Up/Down arrow keys, which can be accessed using the "Fn" key. Personally, I found the position of the arrow keys uncomfortable since we usually use the right hand to operate them. This arrangement might take a few days to get used to, unlike the Zeb Max Nija keyboard where this wouldn't be an issue.

For connectivity, this keyboard offers a total of three options: 2.4GHz wired and Bluetooth. However, switching between them manually using the switch on the back of the keyboard may not be very convenient. It requires flipping the keyboard repeatedly.

Speaking of Bluetooth connection, you can connect the keyboard to a maximum of three devices using Bluetooth alone by pressing the QWE keys. There are LED indicators for A (Caps Lock) and M (Connection Indication).

The adjustable legs on this keyboard are of excellent quality, made of a combination of rubber and plastic materials, giving them a premium feel. You can also attach the palm rest if desired.

The battery capacity is around 1000mAh, and without using RGB lighting, it should easily last for 8-9 days.

During gaming tests, this keyboard performs well due to its anti-ghosting keys, ensuring that no key presses are missed. The keys on Red switches are lighter to press compared to Blue switches, so it's important to have good control over your hand to avoid accidentally pressing other keys.

In terms of connectivity, there is no noticeable latency in the 2.4GHz mode, and in wired mode, there should be absolutely no latency.

Overall, based on my testing, I found this keyboard to be good. While there is some friction in the switches, the keys are stable and there is no rattling noise. It provides a satisfying experience for both gaming and typing. Additionally, the option to replace the switches is available.

Unlike some other keyboards, this one doesn't have metal plates under the keys, but it doesn't affect the sound of the keys. The build quality is also fine, and the keyboard feels lightweight, which is a benefit.

The keyboard also has software support. The RGB lighting is good, although the dark keys may not showcase the RGB effects as vividly as on other keyboards. The positioning of the arrow keys was not personally appealing to me.

If you can find this keyboard for around 3000 to a maximum of 3300 rupees, it would be a good choice. Overall, I liked the keyboard, but I would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section.
