portronics hydra 10 MOD

 I'm planning to modify my portronics hydra 10 keyboard by replacing the Jixian switches with Gateron Red switches and changing the key caps.

I have purchased 5 blue key caps for 100 rupees. This keycaps on the Hydra 10 are slightly low profile, so I have replaced the keycaps on the Home, Delete, Page Up, Page Down, and FN keys. Despite being low profile, they are still comfortable to use. The overall appearance of the keyboard has also improved. There are other color options available for these key caps, so you can choose the ones that appeal to you and purchase them.

Next, I replaced the Jixian Red switches with Gateron Blue switches, even though the keyboard is not hot-swappable. I managed to replace them using my own methods, and they work fine. However, I do not prefer blue switches because they are louder compared to red switches.

If you want to replace the Jixian switches, then I suggest using Gateron Red switches instead, as they are definitely better than Jixian switches. They are smooth and light to use. But, I recommend doing it only if you have good tools because I damaged two switches while replacing them. I used a knife and soldering iron to remove the melted solder, and I may have slightly damaged the PCB with the knife. If you have a professional soldering iron that can suck up melted solder, you can use it to avoid any damage
